Why it’s similar: I think the Sabrina reboot is probably Wednesday’s closest living relative – it’s spooky, female-led, and pretty damn camp as well. Where to watch: Netflix/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: It has similar macabre and fantastical elements to it, plus the leads are equally as precocious as Wednesday is. Where to watch: Netflix Why it’s similar: An enchanted school, a supernatural threat, and the complicated business of forging new relationships – all things found in Wednesday too! Where to watch: Netflix Why it’s similar: They’re both coming-of-age stories set within the fantasy genre, with elements of comedy and mystery weaved in. Where to watch: Netflix Why it’s similar: Seen through the eyes of a bunch of endearing school-age weirdos, this hit series is as mysterious as it is dramatic, just like Wednesday. Where to watch: Netflix Why it’s similar: It’s similarly aesthetically bold, and focuses on teens finding their way in a supernatural school setting. Where to watch: Netflix Why it’s similar: It’s also a tale of a teenager attempting to balance teen problems with supernatural activities that threaten everyday life. Where to watch: Netflix/Hulu/Prime Video Why it’s similar: This movie is packed with fantasy and drama, but also has a familial mystery threaded through it, like Wednesday. Where to watch: Prime Video/Disney+ Why it’s similar: This series is admittedly MUCH more light-hearted, but I do think Mildred’s struggle to fit in and hit her stride in her new school mirrors Wednesday’s journey. Where to watch: Netflix/Prime Video (the original) Why it’s similar: Syd has a similar angsty energy to Wednesday, and is also a bit of an outsider. Comparatively, this series is more adult and has a more serious tone. Where to watch: Netflix Why it’s similar: They both have supernatural themes and examine the darker side of being a teenager. In the later series the characters have powers, but I wouldn’t watch past season three, myself. Where to watch: Netflix/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: This is one of Tim Burton’s most famous films, and the overlap between the style of this movie and Wednesday is evident from the jump! Where to watch: Prime Video/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: Okay, so this is a kids’ show really, but if you want to watch another confident female lead with a spooky vibe do her thing, Mona’s your girl! Where to watch: Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: There’s never been a badass quite like Buffy, but I think Wednesday has a little bit of Buffy in her. Where to watch: Disney+/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: I feel like there’s an overlap in the monsters in these two vehicles. They’re also as camp and spooky as each other! Where to watch: Netflix/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: If the main reason you love Wednesday is her unshakable apathy, you’ll love Daria. Where to watch: Paramount+/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: I’m just including a series with a mystery at its heart for good measure! Where to watch: Prime Video/Apple TV+ Why it’s similar: Nancy et al are all outsiders like Wednesday who have secret powers they must uncover. Also, can’t you hear Wednesday saying, “we are the weirdos, mister”? Where to watch: Prime Video/YouTube Premium
